Peter H. Powell Sr.
CEO, C.H. Powell Co.
Peter is CEO, of C.H. Powell Company in Westwood, Massachusetts and has given
more than 40 years of service to the company. CH Powell founded in 1919 has
operations in customs brokerage, freight forwarding, air freight, ocean carriage
and distribution with offices at 17 United States ports. CH Powell is a key
member and equity partner in the Tandem Global Logistics network which has
office locations in 69 countries worldwide.
Peter Powell Sr. graduated in 1956 from the College of the Holy Cross, where he
earned a B.S. degree in business administration. After college, he served for
three years in the U.S. Air Force as radar intercept officer. Subsequent to his
military service, Powell joined C.H. Powell Company.
In March 2002, Powell assumed the NCBFAA Chairmanship after serving two
terms as NCBFAA President. He is currently a member of the NCBFAA Security
Committee. NCBFAA comprises about 800 member firms across the country-all of
them involved in international transportation and related services. Before being
elected to his first term as president in 1998, Powell served as vice president
and chairman of the Forwarding Committee of the association. In those positions,
he testified before both houses of Congress on the Shipping Reform Act of
1998. Furthermore, Powell has been directly involved with U.S. Customs
as it undertakes to automate the reporting of commodity and transport export
data.
In addition to his roles with C.H. Powell and NCBFAA, Powell serves as Executive
Committee member, TSA Liaison Committee member; Foreign Commerce Club
member; Board of Directors of The National Industrial Transportation League;
Coalition for Airline Security member; COAC Trade Support Network (TSN) Security
Subcommittee member; and also serves on the Maritime Committee.
Powell is married, has three adult children and 12 grandchildren, and lives in
Wellesley, Massachusetts.
