2009 New England Supply Chain Conference and Exhibition - Patrick Barry Bio

Patrick Barry, MBA
President and Founder, Precision Logistics, LLC

Patrick BarryPatrick Barry has nearly 30 years experience in operational supply chain management. He is the President and founder of Precision Logistics LLC, a New Hampshire based consulting firm specializing in the development and application of computer-based solutions to reduce the cost of purchased materials and transportation. The practice has a particular emphasis on transportation routing and scheduling issues, including engineered time standards and operational fleet management. Since founding Precision Logistics in 1998, Patrick has successfully helped client organizations reduce cost by applying a combination of best practices and analytical software to optimize the procurement of materials and services.

Before consulting, Patrick spent 10 years at United Parcel Service (UPS), where he managed Operations, Engineering, and Customer Service functions. A significant portion of his UPS career was spent in the Industrial Engineering Department where he was responsible for the administration and application of time study and other work measurement in the UPS delivery and pick-up operations in New England. He also made significant contributions to internal corporate cost models by analyzing the company’s package pick-up and delivery costs. As manager of the customer logistics group, Patrick later applied these same processes and efficiencies to help improve transportation and distribution operations for more than one hundred US companies who were UPS clients. He was also responsible for the development and training of experimental cross-functional consulting teams dedicated to providing UPS’ larger customers with integrated logistics solutions.

Prior to joining UPS, Patrick lived in Europe for 11 years, where he managed an international freight forwarding operation in Paris, France. He has also taught as an adjunct professor of transportation and logistics at the College of Business Administration at Northeastern University in Boston.

Patrick holds a Bachelors degree from the University of Connecticut and an MBA from Northeastern University. He has served as a Cabinet Member of the New England Roundtable of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals.
